fuckyeahhistorycrushes: William Lamport, the Irish Zorro. Born in Wexford, Ireland. A child genius, he learned no less than 14 languages, before being arrested in London for sedition (distributing Catholic pamphlets). He left Britain for Spain, became a pirate, romanced the noblewomen of the Spanish court and eventually landed in Mexico. He sympathized with the indigenous people, and was executed. Perhaps the inspiration for the fictional character, Zorro.
